Tam adı Colin Andrew Firth'tür. İngiliz Şövalyelik Nişanı sahibidir. 2011 yılında Zoraki Kral filmindeki VI. George rolüyle En İyi Erkek Oyuncu dalında Altın Küre ve BAFTA ödülünü kazandı.

Asıl tanınması BBC'de yayınlanan Jane Austen uyarlaması olan 1995 yapımı Pride and Prejudice dizisindeki Mr. Darcy rolüyle olmuştur. 2010 yılında, A Single Man (Tek Başına Bir Adam) filmindeki rolüyle en iyi erkek oyuncu dalında Akademi Ödülü adayı oldu. Bu performansı aktöre BAFTA ödüllerinde en iyi erkek oyuncu ödülü kazandırdı.
